PRESS RELEASE — Today, during the “Future Standards for Frontier Tech: Quantum” session at the AI for Good Summit, a new global initiative was announced: the Quantum World Tour. Launched within the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, the initiative is a collaboration between the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and The Quantum Insider. Premiering in September 2025, the series will spotlight national quantum ecosystems from around the world and serve as a platform for countries to share progress, challenges, and priorities as quantum technology moves closer to real-world deployment.

The Quantum World Tour is designed to encourage greater visibility, transparency, and global dialogue at a time when quantum technologies are influencing national agendas, commercial strategies, and research priorities. By surfacing how countries are actually building quantum ecosystem, from infrastructure and regulation to entrepreneurship and education, the series is designed to illuminate how innovation becomes tangible. The series will showcase how countries, both long-established leaders and emerging participants, are building the foundational elements of quantum readiness.

The initiative reflects a shared belief that the development and advocacy of quantum technology is not a zero-sum race, but a collective effort. For countries in the early stages of ecosystem development, there is clear value in learning from others’ roadmaps. For more advanced nations, the series provides a venue to share best practices, highlight leadership, and engage with global stakeholders through openness and exchange.

The Quantum World Tour will consist of country-specific episodes that will run approximately ninety minutes, structured as a digital forum that blends national briefings and expert discussion to balance high-level strategy with grounded implementation:

Each episode will include:

  • Opening ecosystem brief: Framing the country’s quantum activity, including funding, strategy, and institutional infrastructure
  • Expert panel: Featuring researchers, industry leads, and government representatives
  • Startup showcase: Insights from early-stage companies
  • Workforce segment: Highlighting university programs, public-private initiatives, and community outreach
  • Audience Q&A and engagement

Designed for accessibility, the series will be available globally and free to attend. Episodes will be archived and made available afterwards to ensure longevity and reference value.

The Tour will kick off with a spotlight on Malta, where national strategy, EU-aligned investment, and the landmark PRISM quantum communication project are positioning the country as a secure, agile contributor to Europe’s emerging quantum network. Future stops on the Tour will include ecosystems such as China, Russia, South Korea, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and others still in development.

Beyond showcasing progress, the Tour is designed as a living blueprint, to provide concrete examples of how different nations are navigating the challenges and opportunities of building quantum ecosystems. From national strategies and standards to the less visible scaffolding of training programs and testbeds, the series is intended to surface what works and why.

The Quantum World Tour will formally launch in September 2025, with episode dates, speaker lineups, and registration information to be released later this summer. Governments, startups, research institutions, and quantum consortia interested in participating may reach out to Cierra Choucair, Co-Host of the Quantum World Tour and Strategic Content Director at Resonance, at cierra@resonance.holdings.
